i decide to become a yoga teacher because i wanted a tangible skill. it was 2001, i had a masters degree in international environmental policy but no job. yoga’s popularity intrigued me and given my background in gymnastics i was fairly flexible and enjoyed stretching so i thought i’d be good at it! one day i noticed yet another photo of madonna in the newspaper with a caption that mentioned the name of a yoga teacher who just released a video, which i bought and practiced with daily. there was something very different about this yoga teacher. after attending one of his london workshops i signed up for the teacher training course.

i had no idea how profoundly my life was to change…

far more than acquiring a tangible skill, i learned a way of living life. this way of living life is natural and real. in harmony with the universal laws of nature, this way of living life has great meaning and significance.

yoga has transformed my life. having learned to accept, i have more strength. having learned to breath, i have more clarity. having learned the art of surrender, i feel more at peace.

the reason why i teach yoga is because i believe that yoga is the most powerful vehicle for change. the change i am speaking about comes not from being told something in particular, but by experiencing something in general. i call it change through awakening. once you are awake everything is clear. once you are awake you can, as Ghandi said, be the change you want to see in the world.
