What is Dynamic Yoga?

Dynamic Yoga is not so much a school of yoga as it is a teaching technique . Based on classical hatha yoga , Dynamic Yoga incorporates the five main elements - drushti, asana, vinyasa, pranayama, and the bhandas - into a balanced practice.

Dynamic Yoga is rooted in the method of vinyasa krama - the process of step-by-step progression. Dozens of postures, developed by Godfrey Devereux , are taught to ensure that students are safely and effectively taught the five elements. Students are brought into classical yoga postures gradually. First the body must be free of physical tension and taught new patterns of muscular activity. With a constant emphasis on yama and niyama, students become acutely aware of that which is actually happening, thereby reducing the risk of injury to both body and mind.

Dynamic Yoga is appropriate for any level of yoga practitioner - beginner, intermediate and advanced.

What is taught in dynamic yoga practice can be applied to any school of yoga.
