About Meditation
inquire into the possibilities...

"When the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded consciousness." The Yoga Sutras
Meditation is about settling the mind, quieting the mind, inviting the mind to stillness. This is not so easy, as the human mind is constantly moving. One thought immediately leads to another thought, which immediately leads to another thought, and so on, and so on, ad infinitum. For instance, you might have the thought, “I am hungry.” Which leads to another thought, “I must go food shopping.” Which leads to another thought, “I need to get cash out of the bank,” etc. Every moment of every day of our lives, thoughts inundate our minds. It is not as if we intentionally think these thoughts, in fact, we really have no control over the thoughts we think. The movement of the mind from one thought to another is instantaneous and happens as a result of every single thing that has happened up until that moment. Even when we sleep our minds do not rest, they keep moving.
